Mamadou and the Blue Bags

This Children's book was inspired by my first trip to Mali, West Africa where I met a small boy who hawked recycled blue bags among the busy street vendors and occassional tourists. We wandered the streets of Mopti and together carried my purchases to the Peace Corps house where I was staying. We spent a wonderful day together and I have always remembered him as a little entrepeneur with practically nothing to sell, yet his ingenouity brought him success at the end of the day. I've adapted the narrative as i wanted to take myself out of the story. These are a few of the 24 illustrations.
